 Responsibilities 

  • Identifies factors required to provide cost and price information data. 
  • Provides analyses of cost data and makes recommendations to management regarding price. Analyzes complex cost data to determine projected profits or potential losses including risk analysis. Analyzes and presents alternative pricing scenarios with varying risk trade-offs.    
  • Develop pricing strategy & coordinate with Sales to build a winning pricing proposal that incorporates financial objectives and is fully compliant with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Truthful Cost or Pricing Data (formerly TINA), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and company policies and procedures. 
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and other related pricing laws, regulations and guidelines to minimize legal and financial exposure.   Ensure that proposals meet the definition of an adequate proposal per FAR guidelines. 
  • Represents the company in high-level contract negotiations by providing information and influencing the process in the best business interest of the company.   
  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. 
  • Use existing pricing models and build subsidiary spreadsheets using MS Excel to comply with various customer requirements. 
  • Generate detailed pricing utilizing estimates, pricing model, proposal structure, and pricing strategy. 
  • Develop cost estimating relationships, conduct studies and perform special projects as required. 
  • Interface with DCAA to provide supporting data and justification during audit.

Qualifications

Our client is seeking a Senior Material Estimator at their Torrance, CA location.  In this position, you will be responsible for estimating/forecasting material costs for incoming RFQ’s by gathering details and compiling data to estimate all material costs according to specifications, working closely with but not limited to the Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Quality Teams. Consider raw materials, equipment, and tooling as well as determining necessary resources for projects based on requirements and budgetary constraints.   • Ability to prepare cost estimates in a timely manner, sometimes expedited when needed in this fast-paced working environment.

Join a leading and innovative private company, based in Torrance, CA, specializing in the development of market-driven products for the transmission of digital multimedia (video, audio, and data) over fiber.

The Senior Director of Engineering & Product Development will direct and support engineering design teams to incorporate advanced technologies that result in robust Pro AV-type products for use primarily in the Medical Operating Room environment, with some uses in Enterprise and DoD markets.

BASIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for championing the engineering culture which emphasizes creativity, teamwork, tenacity, empathy, critical thinking, and helping others.
  • This position reports directly to the SVP of Operations.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in overall project management including maintaining a schedule on multiple projects at once.
  • Prioritize, plan and track project(s) progress. Provide weekly status reports to the SVP of Operations and SVP of Sales.
  • Provide project direction and ensure effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Initiate and conduct formal progress review meetings.
  • Provide leadership and direction during Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance and consultation to project team members, contractors, and vendors.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Evaluate the performance of team members who are direct reports.
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and engineering specifications for projects.
  • Liaison between engineering, quality assurance, product management, customer support, and manufacturing departments.
  • Provide leadership to the engineering team.
  • Responsible for hiring, development, and performance management of the engineering department.
  • Must be on-site during normal business hours and be available outside normal business hours if business conditions require it.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 10+ years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 12+ years of related experience with at least 5 years of project management experience.
  • Experience with Analog and Digital Video, Video transmission over copper and fiber (P2P and IP), Video Processing Capture and Display, and Video wireless transmission.

SKILLS:

  • Must have the technical depth and breadth to identify the necessary technologies, technical resources, and expertise required to complete project(s).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage engineering teams.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Organized and adept at identifying technical and operational issues and able to make sound and timely decisions to resolve issues.
  • Understands the industry and keeps abreast of new technologies and competitor’s products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines that may extend work hours.
  • Willingness to adhere to company policies and support management decisions and goals positively and professionally.
