Elizabeth Agatep Morgan

Elizabeth, better known as Liz, is a talent maximizer, DE&I advocate, and community partner.  Her love of helping people and maximizing their potential led her to a career in talent acquisition.  In 2020, she was nominated for her efforts on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by the Los Angeles Business Journal.  Liz is committed to moving the needle forward for her candidates to a better and safe place to work by partnering with clients who are powered with empathy and compassion.

Help us celebrate by entering in the City of Carson Essay Contest

Empathy and compassion are powerful forces that can transform communities, inspire individuals, and create lasting positive change. We invite students from all grade levels to share their perspectives on how empathy and compassion have made a difference in their community or in the world around them.

Guidelines:
Grade Levels:
K- 2nd Grade: 50-300 words
3rd-5th Grade: 300-500 words
6th-8th Grade: 500-700 words
9th-12th Grade: 700-1000 words

Essay Requirements:
Typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font
Include a title page with your name, grade level, and school

Submission:
Submit your essay at support@empathrecruiter.com by September 5, 2024.
Winners will be announced on September 14, 2024
Prizes and swags will be distributed on September 17th, 2024

Topic: “How Empathy and Compassion Make a Difference in Your Community”

Prompt: Describe small, everyday actions of empathy and compassion that can make a big difference in a community. Why are these small acts important? How can we all incorporate more empathy into our daily routines?

NOTE: For K-2nd Grade: You can draw a picture and write a few sentences about how it made you feel and why being kind is important in our community. Parent and teacher can support.

Writing Tips:

Define Empathy and Compassion: Explain what empathy and compassion mean to you. How do you see these qualities being expressed in your community?

Provide Examples: Share specific stories or examples of how empathy and compassion have made a difference. This could be through personal experiences, community projects, or observing the actions of others.

Reflect on Impact: Describe the impact of these actions. How have they improved lives, built stronger connections, or addressed challenges in your community?

Be Creative and Original: Use your unique voice and perspective. Feel free to use anecdotes, quotes, or any other elements that enhance your narrative.

Organize Your Thoughts: Make sure your essay is well-structured, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Each part should flow logically to the next.

Judging Criteria:

Clarity and Understanding
Grammar
Impact and Persuasiveness

Prizes:

There will be two winners selected from each grade division (K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th).
